SUBMIT YOUR FILMAKA FILM TO FESTIVALS
If you submitted a film to our Feature Film Competition, you can still submit that film to a film festival! A few conditions do apply. First, please include the Filmaka animated logo at the front of your film, as all films on our site do. Secondly, make sure the festival doesn't demand exclusive rights for your film - Filmaka still retains the rights unless you hear otherwise from us. Films entered into Brand-sponsored competitions will require the permission of the brand and/or its agency. Please CONTACT Filmaka if you would like to request those clearances. Third, please notify us if you get in to a festival - we like to brag about you on our site and in our newsletter!
A great short can be your "calling card" as a director trying to break into the business. Take a look at some Feature Film Competition submissions below that went on to play at film festivals.

GET A FESTIVAL STRATEGY

Wondering about film festival politics, how to build a reputation for yourself and your film, and what kind of treatment to expect when you get into a festival? Try watching OFFICIAL REJECTION, a 2009 documentary about two guys trying to get their indie feature seen.
PLACES TO GET STARTED
A good place to look for festivals suitable for your short is WithoutABox.com. It's a website that has you fill out forms
describing your film once - and then submit that same info to as many participating film festivals as you want - without having to re-key all your info each time. It's free to get a filmmaker account with them, and they have a search engine that will show you lots of festivals that fit the film you have.
You can find literally hundreds of film festivals that accept shorts, plus dozens that accept only shorts. Be sure to read their submission guidelines to make sure they accept shorts that have appeared online. We checked out the websites of the festivals below to make sure they do.
