Santiago Tapia is an aspiring director who is also a writer, editor, vfx artist, and producer. He is a first generation Peruvian American, whose parents always hoped he'd be a doctor. Unfortunately, growing up in Brooklyn watching re-runs of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Twilight Zone” on an old black and white TV planted different seeds. He is represented as an emerging director/writer by WME. He was one of the producers of the 2010 independent feature PLAY THE GAME which had a limited theatrical release in AMC theaters nationwide and is now playing on Showtime and available thru Netflix, Blockbuster, and Redbox everywhere. But what he wants more than anything is to direct his first feature - in 3D - which he's currently developing. Born in 1982, raised in NY, Santiago received a BA in Biology from Harvard University and a MFA in film from Boston University in 2006. He is a directing/writing fellow of several programs including Film Independent, The PGA (The Producers Guild of America), and NALIP (the National Association of Latino Independent Producers). Santiago began his aspiring filmmaking career directing short films where he had the pleasure of making over a dozen narrative shorts judged by a jury panel of filmmakers including Collin Firth, Zak Penn, Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, John Madden, and Neil LaBute. Most recently Santiago directed two 15-second spots for KLONDIKE Ice Cream for the Ad Agency Via. In his spare time he indulges a pension for bad horror movies, New York Times Best Seller Novels, too much Youtube, and grocery store tabloids.
