Fun, playful movie. Could have been trimmed in some parts (mostly the beginning sequence dragged a little too long), but I really liked the structure to the film and the payoff at the end. My only other minor complaint would be that the opening credit text at the beginning looked a little amateur in comparison to the otherwise high production value look of the shots. Great work on the film overall though!
Thanks Dan! The opening sequence is suppose to feel uncomfortable long! It's been designed and cut that way! Having watched it you should click as to why! Title's I just didn't want to blend it in too much. We've done heaps of flashy ones and I felt this needed to just be a little on top of the story itself and really simple. 17 fonts were tested! thanks for the High Production values shots comment. Had a lot of people telling me that! Really appreciate - only prob is - how to do better next time! *smile*
Very cute. Love the way the shots are done. Actors made me feel their frustration. Felt it was well done.
Alle, Enjoyed, might have wanted him to be late 1 or 2 more times with her engaged in some activity, but the short got the point across. Great job.
Hi Alle, enjoyed the film and esp. the opening then the shorter versions of the established race against the sands of time. Observations/criticism - to my mind, some of the dialogue at the end of the first 'race' over states what's already been shown so well... Best wishes J
Totally great job! I loved it. Good production value in every way, definitely, as well as the funny ending! Please watch my entry, 'Deadline'.
Fun watch, very professional.. as usual ;)
insane... did you have to get permissions to shoot in the outdoor locations?
*smile* Yasunari I wish we got paid to be professional! *giggle* Anshul - Humbug! I use a Long Lens! I need a much smaller camera!
Great editing. I felt it established a strong rhythm and pace to convey the content. Also, way to take advantage of the city landscape. -------Director of 'The Time Is Now'--------
Fabulous camera, editing sound music, etc. etc.! Really well done, congratulations. My film is called "The Course."
Great camera work, editing, etc. Great production value, Professional all the way thru - no doubt going to see more great films down the road from this director. -Dale McSherry
nice chase shots!
thanks Chris, Hedia, Dale and Aliakbar! So pleased you all like Quickie! Really REALLY pleased with my actors! And Dale, you'll be seeing a LOT more! Don't you worry! (Looks at next week - 30 dogs? OMG!)
loved the slow motion shot .. with the bell sound in the back ground
Brillantly executed !
great sense of movement throughout and beautiful camera work. Loved the two pigeons flying out of his way in the park.
Thanks V Brang! I have to confess it's Suzanne who did that! I was going to pull it out! Two persons appeal is good enough for me! Thanks Maxine! We're getting better! Love to team up with people around the world on a few future films! Kimberly thanks! Did you notice the FLOCK of Pigeons just after the London Eye when we zoom back in on him! Talk about perfect timing! Love that shot!! Gotta love impromptu animals! xox
We love running throw London! First part has too many shots, I would say, and slow motion in park is too short, and also zoom-out after that. It has some great solutions like waiting on the bus station, but some wider shots on the square for example are too short. All together: it could be done better with this material, story is okay and perhaps you do not need a last shot, because it moves drama into comedy which is not good for this movie. Give your characters to succeed! Bye!
Srdan, actually running though London was exhausting! Trying to get a crew through crowds and iconic locations full of tourists with a giant camera an tripod, bags, loggers and everything, using only public transport - Ooooh! But yes, we did enjoy taking the Icons to task. I don't agree that there are too many shots. The entire story is about his journey, frustrated by, in effect London and it's depth. You could not tell LONDON's depth in less shots, in fact we did it twice! The first time was to make you uncomfortable and impatient, just like London is, wide shots to make you feel distance and detached. The second time shots are tighter, with greater expanse occasionally, it's shorter because you already feel his frustration. We get more intimate, because as you rightly point out, you have connected by this stage, why go wide and be distant when we are intimate, sympathetic and desiring his success. Third time, we don't need to do anything, we know what's coming, what his journey has been like, what he is aiming for - so we just do it ... almost! This film IS a comedy. It's not a serious drama. IN fact when Janna pitched it to me walking in a dark alley of London at 11:37 PM we were rolling in laughter. It wasn't till Charlotte delivered the first "Too Slow Jack" that we all were speechless. Not even the rehearsals were toned that well! So I kept with what I was feeling and seeing and let Charlotte play the character with her deep emotions.

You could not tell LONDON's depth in less shots, in fact we did it twice! The first time was to make you uncomfortable and impatient, just like London is, wide shots to make you feel distance and detached. The Slow Mo is "a moment in time" where Clock and JACK are competing. Any longer and it would have been a distraction, I was always uncomfortable about it it infact, but people have been receptive. The second time shots are tighter, with greater expanse occasionally, it's shorter because you already feel his frustration. We get more intimate, because as you rightly point out, you have connected by this stage, why go wide and be distant when we are intimate, sympathetic and desiring his success. It wasn't till Charlotte delivered the first "Too Slow Jack" that we all were speechless. Not even the rehearsals were toned that well! So I kept with what I was feeling and seeing and let Charlotte play the character with her deep emotions. Credit to her too! It's her first Film Acting gig, Charlotte is a professional Dancer! Benny on the other hand was suppose to be Stoic and serious, the guttered male ego. But I let him Thaeatricalize the character to great value - and lets face it, JACK is hysterically TYPICAL! We had always planned on the ending, it was originally going to be voice over and confusion. But I felt we needed a visual. So Kevin Donahue, a USA writer did the Stork for me and we animated it in post - a bit surreal but fun. We had over 2 hours of running stock footage! I can't complain, Kirstie Alley said "your film QUICKIE is so wonderful..it misled me which I loved and sooo cute in the end" - I can't complain when A-List talent is calling it out! And the Wonderful Celebrity Non Gossip Columnist Liz Silver who commented very early below! Thanks for the comments Srdan, but I can't agree with your conclusion! the Characters are NEVER meant to succeed in their quest, not the way they are going about it! You are suppose to come away from the film wishing they had succeeded, so we did, achieve that with you - because you wanted them to succeed and stated such! xox
You wish it to be comedy, but last shot is not enough to make it a genre movie. If it makes you lough or your friends, it still does not make me lough, a total stranger to you. It is action movie, if you need a genre and that last shot is spoiling all effects that you achieve with your movie until that moment. Good bye!
