Inspiration: Hailing from India, we both know the importance of highlighting women’s voices, something that continues to be a struggle back home, especially for those living below the poverty line. It is place where ancient traditions like Sati and female foeticide continue in some parts of the country because girls are seen as a burden and boys are seen as a blessing. We thus wanted to make a documentary that focused on a problem that women were facing In Toronto and we stumbled upon Sistering. This organization provides support and care for women and trans members of the community that are often shunned by society. What better cause to highlight especially when homelessness and mental illness are on the rise in Canada?
