Hisonni Johnson has been blessed with talent, striking good looks, incredible athletic prowess, and undeniable charm. There is a palpable sense of rock solid determination and boundless enthusiasm that is rarely seen in someone so young. His depth as an actor has been fueled by real world experience that might have destroyed many. Johnson, raised by a single mother in poverty, has triumphed over external circumstances and the victory reverberates in the strength of his work on stage and in film.
The twenty-three year old actor was recently cast as Nick on Fox's Hottest new TV show "Glee", as Jerrick in Mirror images Action thriller "The Riot" and as officer Carl Leeds in Griffin Productions feature film Still Life in which he shares the screen with seasoned film veteran Mark Metcalf.
Hisonni has also Written and directed four short films in 2009, two of which he had starring roles in. His last directing and writing entitled "BY The Creed" ( Shot entirely on green screen) resulted in a 6th place finishing in a major nationwide contest that had over accepted one hundred entrants. Another film he wrote and starred in entitled "Valley of Acorns" is currently on the festival circuit and getting him great review as an actor from judges and audiences across the country.
Evidence of his prolific appetite for challenging parts is demonstrated in his characterization of George in one of the most significant American plays and Raisin in the Sun.
Comfortable in front of the camera and behind the lens as well, Johnson studied with acclaimed Chicago photographer David VanderVeen. An impressive portfolio of commercials resulted, along with an affinity for still photography, video and film.
Trained as an elite Olympic hopeful in gymnastics, he competed against international Olympic champions. An injury short circuited his pursuit of a gold medal. Undeterred by the disappointment that befell him as an aspiring gymnast, Johnson went on to become an all conference athlete in football as well as track and field. Hisonni earned a full academic scholarship to the prestigious University School of Milwaukee, a nationally renowned college preparatory high school. He further distinguished himself by receiving the Presidential Gold Seal for academics and athletics. Johnson studied acting at the University of Wisconsin in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program during which her took part in numerous university productions.
