“I’ve been bringing people together long before I knew it was called directing.” A meager upbringing that lacked material goods, Jay Todd learned how to embrace his surroundings while refining his vision for unseen beauty. Driven with an unwritten destiny, he packed his mid-west values to embark on a journey to define his talent. Jay planted himself on the west coast, quickly learning the ins-and-outs of set etiquette while earning his keep on every form of production he could pursue. “I wanted to learn the structure from the ground up. I’ve filled coolers for Jamie Fox, earned a union card and took all the knowledge I could from some of Hollywood’s top directors and directors of photography.” While attending school, Jay Todd developed his talents even further by building close relationships with the unknown and up-and-coming members of the production and talent industry. “Having the ability to recognize and embrace the human elements in each person that I work with, allows me to develop my vision more clearly while bringing out theirs as well.” Everything he learned, whether it was technical, psychological, or creative led him up to where he is today. Jay Todd controls his vision with timing and consistency. He embraces the concept in each individual project; bringing out the true idea from which it was formed. In any style of storytelling, Jay Todd continues to embrace technology while staying true to the collaborative way of filmmaking.
