Atanas Bakalov is a young filmmaker born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria. In his teens, Atanas relocated to the United States with his family, and the academic and career trajectory he has followed since speak to his diverse interests and multifaceted background. Atanas holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Boston University and a M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Currently, he studies film production at Boston University and works on various short film projects in Boston, MA.
Atanas's latest short film, DEATH WHISH, a suspense/horror piece about a psychotic woman ensnarled by the figments of her own imagination, won the 2nd Place in the 2010 REDSTONE FILM FESTIVAL, Boston and screened in festivals in Connecticut and NYC. Atanas is also working on another short project titled LEMON PIE AND A BLACK EYE, which will be released in May 2010.
