Biography

Growing up, James developed his love of filmmaking through his early experiments with animation. He soon progressed into live action short films where he discovered that a career in film was right for him. He enrolled at the prestigious National Film and Television School to hone his skills in storytelling and build a strong foundation for his career. While studying there he broadened his range of skills and knowledge of every aspect of filmmaking, from sound design to production design. Whilst at the NFTS James directed a number of commercials. His spot for Ford Fiesta won 'Best in Brief' at the Kodak Student Commercial Awards and he has just completed a commercial for Digital Cinema Media starring Ray Winstone (The Departed, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) which will be showing in British cinemas in the summer (please see his website www.jwgriffiths.com for a preview). He also worked as an editor on a number of films that are now screening at film festivals around the world and a documentary which has had interest from television companies.
