The Feature Film Competition is the seminal call to action upon which Filmaka was founded. Producers Deepak Nayar and Thomas Augsberger wanted a way to find bold new writer-directors and see their original ideas. Each round of the Feature Film Competition assigns a different theme and sets a short deadline - usually one month - to write, direct, edit, and upload your film. Peers vote, Filmaka executives vote, and finally the Filmaka Jury votes on who the next wave of members are to make it to the upper echelon. Our Feature Film Competition has cycled through 26 rounds of creative assignments, through which we've discovered and rewarded over 400 different filmmakers from around the world. SWINGING WITH THE FINKELS played the Cannes Film Festival but started out as a short film submitted to a Filmaka competition. It got writer-director Jonathan Newman noticed. A couple of transatlantic calls later, it got him a feature film deal with Filmaka founders Deepak Nayar and Thomas Augsberger. Other member-directed Filmaka-produced features include Eli Craig's TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL, and Newman's follow-up film FOSTER, starring Toni Collette.

Submit your pitch for a commercial to drive foot traffic to HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS! Ten pitches will be awarded $500 as semi-finalists. HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS' goal is to produce three of those pitches and air them on cable, network TV, and online - a potential audience of millions! Greenlit pitches will each receive a $12,000 production budget, plus a $1,500 bonus for the writer-director. Including the $500 semi-finalist prize, that's a total of $14,000!
