NEW COMPETITION OPENS
CONVINCE US TO PRODUCE YOUR FEATURE

All you have to do is send us some really impressive shorts! This round's Feature Film Competition theme is THE OTHER SIDE. The Other Side of the tracks. The Other Side of an argument. The Other Side of your personality that no one's ever seen. Maybe just The Other Side of the coin. Show us your flip-side in a 1 to 3 minute film and upload it to our site by SUNDAY, AUGUST 2. You could win $500, plus a chance at more prizes, including a feature film production - with you at the helm - and Filmaka producing!

...AND JUDGING YOUR FILM

VOTE NOW THROUGH JULY 7
ALL MEMBERS CAN CAST BALLOTS

AND THOSE WHO ENTERED THIS COMPETITION MUST VOTE TO STAY IN IT! That's right, we take our civic responsibility seriously at Filmaka. You must support your peers - after all, you don't want just anybody walking away with $500 cash plus $1000 in production funding! Make your opinion heard! Ten winners will be determined purely through peer votes and will have the chance to go on to the Jury Level where they will have their next short funded and then watched by the heavy hitters on our FILMAKA JURY. Three Jury Winners will go on for a shot at winning a feature!

ENTRY WINNERS CHOSEN
WORK ON JURY FILMS BEGINS

We hit a rough patch trying to sort it all out, but in the end, our true grit saw us through the squeeze - eighteen films have been chosen as our Hard Times Entry Level winners. For this sponsored round of the Feature Film Competition, we are requiring our winners to stick with their same concept for their sequel - their Jury Level film. The DIGITAL RIGHTS GROUP will be looking specifically for ideas that can be developed into an ongoing series.

DAVID BRYANT'S TERRIFYING SUCCESS

Filmaka member David Bryant co-produced and co-directed the horror film - along with Richard Stiles & Sebastian Smith. After spotting it on their website, the film was bought by Grindstone and is being released by Lions Gate July 7 in the US and Canada. Says David "The fantastic opportunity that Filmaka has offered filmakers like myself and the competition between us serves to push all of us into producing films that are the best we can do." JONATHAN'S SAGA CONTINUES...

JONATHAN NEWMAN knocked all our socks off with his grand-prize winning "Father's Day" in the Ford Mustang Stories Competition last fall. Apparently, we weren't the only ones he left an impression on. SHOOT magazine added their kudos at their seventh annual New Directors Showcase this week in New York City! The event featured an evening screening, panel discussion and reception at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Theater. The showcase honors 38 up-and-coming filmmakers, from freelancers like Jonathan to an Academy Award nominated producer. You can watch the series of films about drift racing Jonathan directed as a part of his Ford Mustang Stories Grand Prize at www.the2010mustang.com
