MICHAEL WONG is our FIRST PLACE WINNER in FRESH START for "Violinist." MANS WIDE is SECOND PLACE for "Here I Come!" and SALOMON ASKENAZI is a SPECIAL JURY FINALIST for "Onion Soup." Wish good luck to each of them, for they have just entered the equivalent of the Filmaka Thunderdome - from which only one winner will emerge! These three join the ranks of FEATURE FILM FINALISTS who have been chosen for the final confrontation between good and evil - wait, I mean - between our filmmakers. One of whom will have their feature film script produced by Filmaka Founder Deepak Nayar - with them at the helm, directing! Watch their winning submissions!

DOC FINALISTS COMPETE
WINNER GETS THEIR FILM PRODUCED

The final submissions are in for our Documentary Competition! These follow-up films will be viewed by members of our FILMAKA JURY. All Doc Finalists are competing for the grand prize of having their documentary produced by Filmaka founder Deepak Nayar (producer of Buena Vista Social Club). Get to know the faces of our finalists!
FILM FESTIVALS
A SECOND LIFE FOR YOUR FILM

You poured your blood, sweat and tears into making the best short possible for our Feature Film Competition, and now you are sitting on your hands, wondering what to do with it. Why not let it make a name for you on the festival circuit? A short makes a fantastic "calling card" for a director trying to break into the business. While Filmaka retains the rights to your submitted films, we encourage you to loan them to not-for-profit endeavors that get your work - and your name - out in the world. See our requirements and helpful suggestions for how to be seen on the festival scene.

SHOOT DIRECTORS SHOWCASE
FILMAKAS REPRESENT AT NEW YORK EVENT

Filmaka members VARDA HARDY and IAN ALLEN LIM were honored last month at SHOOT's Directors Symposium and 2010 New Directors Showcase. You may remember Varda Hardy as one of our previous Feature Film Competition Finalists and as the First Place winner of THE MSN What On Earth competition for her short MOON. Ian Allen Lim is currently in the wild Card Jury Level competition with his film JOYRIDE. Ally Polly, of Filmaka strategy and brand partnerships, was also present to speak on an industry panel about current trends in commercial production and branded entertainment.

WINNERS JOIN NATION-WIDE CAMPAIGN

Twenty filmmakers in 16 US cities teamed with Ford Fiesta Agents to create films about their Fiesta adventures in their home town. The completed shorts premiered in movie theatres in each city, in front of blockbuster features like Iron Man 2 and Sex and the City 2! First, Second, and Third Place Fiesta winners were selected based on the success of their social marketing interaction. Four of our finalists were also chosen to be showcased on Current TV. The films are a part of Ford's Fiesta Movement - one of the biggest car launches to hit the states in years. Meet our winners!

Stayed tuned to see what's next for our contestants!
