Inspiration: I live a few blocks from the Chinese theater, and I've always wondered what these characters do when they're not donning costumes. After I saw Elmo get arrested, I decided to write a spec about it. Our comedy pilot was mostly improvised in one take and shot cinema verite style,shot in a single-camera setup. I do have a written 1/2 pilot episode.
Other Info: Although fictional and scripted, the show takes the form of a documentary, with the presence of the camera openly acknowledged.I see the series as a hybrid of writing and comedic improvisation.
