Inspiration: Inspired by true events, this short film is a genre I call 'Abstract Documentary' and comes from a personal place and combines three different literary forms with multiple cinematic aesthetics to tell an unfortunately true story in an unconventional and artistic way. The film began with a piece of writing, the "prose narrative piece" which was the first time I'd written down the events that had occurred years earlier. I shot the film a week later in a single night in the basement of an apartment I was living in at the time. I wrote and recorded the spoken word piece the next day and spent the next few weeks editing. I am inspired by filmmakers Maya Deren, Vincent Gallo, Pedro Amador, David Lynch, Sophia Coppola, Darren Aronofsky, Kevin Smith and more recently Miranda July and Don Hertzfeldt.
