Biography

I am a Malaysian Chinese. I started acting when I was 15 years old in school theatre. I also loved to write stories & watch movies. The natural progression was to make my own films. However, when I left school, I studied Law and never developed the technical skills of Operating a Camera and Editing. One thing I did continue was Act. I have done mostly theatre productions with some of the great Malaysian Theatre Practitioners and was fortunate to work with one of Malaysia's prolific TV Director in the few TV roles I've bagged. My first job was with his Production House where I started at the bottom as a Production Assistant but my job scope eventually encompassed that of an Assistant Producer & Assistant Director. I loved the experience but was disillusioned with the Industry as it wasn't an accessible one, even for those with a lot of talent. So, I left it to work at a YOUTH NGO for a while. But now I'm back and I'm trying to make it on my own terms. www.ifilmindie.com is my effort to create an Online INDIE Community from which I intend to organise Events, Projects, Programs & Productions to provide opportunities for the local INDIE Community. Truth be told, I don't know where I see myself down the line. However, my goal is to be the Pioneer of a new Malaysian generation of Actors, Filmmakers, Directors who make opportunities, not just for ourselves but for others in our community as well.
