Growing up in Indiana, Leopold obtained his B.A. in Political Science and Music Composition from Butler University. While working his first job as a financial advisor in Louisville, KY, he helped a local independent filmmaker raise money for the feature film Breaking and Entering. Seeing value in helping creative artists navigate the world of business and finance, Leopold founded Left Brain/Right Brain Productions and began slowly building the company in his spare time as he continued his career in finance and investments. After relocating to Boston, Leopold decided that learning the craft of filmmaking would make him a better producer - so he bought some books, an eMac, a Panasonic miniDV camera, and took a free production workshop offered by a local public access TV station. Starting out making small web videos for sole entrepreneurs, towns, and real estate agents, Leopold quickly became a skilled shooter and editor. After relocating to Chicago in 2006, Leopold left the world of investments to run Left Brain/Right Brain Productions full-time.
Since running the company full-time, Leopold has directed three documentaries, all of which debut in 2010. He is currently producing/directing a new slate of documentaries and feature films, all developed with social action campaigns.
Seeking to have his company embody his personal values, Leopold has been proactive in communicating the company’s mission to enact positive social change. By inspiring others to overcome adversity, combatting poverty, advancing education, and taking care of our planet, we can make a living and make the world a better place at the same time.
