Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Photographer, Editor, Musician.
I have been working full time in the creative arts since about age seventeen. My first passion was music, followed closely by photography and film. I was a founding member of the Norfolk Virginia based band "Waxing Poetics". We put out several albums in the late 80s on Emergo Records. During that same time period I became very involved in photography and film. I set up a darkroom and began shooting for a regional magazine that covered the visual and performing arts. I found an old super 8 camera and started shooting film. In 1989 I left the band to attend the University of the Arts in Philadelphia PA where I received my BFA from the photography film and animation department. I spent my junior year at Parsons School of Design in Paris France. I worked my way through school managing a quick turn around photo business and spent a little over a year after graduation in Chicago for that same company.
From Chicago I moved to Layton NJ to do a residency in an arts community, "Peters Valley". Concentrating on my personal work shooting primarily with my 8x10 camera and printing in an antique process called gum bichromate. After Peters Valley I moved to Boston in 1995, where I set up shop as a commercial advertising photographer/film & video producer. Over the past six years more and more of my work is for television and video. I am an Emmy award winning producer. I shot, direct, produce and edit commercials. While working as a commercial artist I have always found new outlets to express my creativity in a personal way, be it gallery shows, writing music, or entering competitions . Filmaka has become that latest outlet for me.
