Biography

Born and raised in the city of Guadalajara in Mexico, I don't remember exactly at what point I became a filmmaker; I like to believe that it is something that I always had in me, and that I just had to wait for it to bloom and blossom. I have a theory regarding some points to being a filmmaker: Number one, one has to read a lot. Anything, be it literature, fashion magazines, newspaper, comic books... Anything and everything. Number two and three are the same, but with music and films. Listen to all kinds of music, don't close your mind to just one genre. Watch as many movies as you can, good ones, bad ones, art, mainstream, independent... And number four, the most important: Party a lot! Meet people! Travel! Live your own stories! We, as filmmakers, are nothing but observers, bards that spin an tell others' stories. Why not live our own on the way? One of 5 directors chosen by the Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara (Guadalajara International Film Festival) to write and direct the experimental short film “Cadáver Exquisito” (Exquisite Corpse) (2008). Screenwriter and director of the short film “Scars”, distributed in theatres in the state of Jalisco. 2nd place winner in the worldwide contest “Avon Speak Out Against Domestic Violence” within the “Expresión en Corto International Film Festival” in Guanajuato, Mexico. (2008). Official selection for the special screening “Avon Speak Out Against Domestic Violence” in the Short Film Corner within the Cannes Film Festival (May 2009). Official selection and nominated for best Mexican short film in the Monterrey International Film Festival (August 2009).
