Biography

After receiving a B.A. in English from the University of Florida, I received an M.F.A. from USC’s graduate School of Cinema-Television. While at USC, I also worked in the story department of New Regency Films on the lot of 20th Century Fox, tracking studio projects and covering spec scripts for possible purchase. After graduation, I went to work writing action films for Roger Corman's New Concorde Productions. In 2003, I served as a jury member for the Sarasota Film Festival. My screenplays have won numerous awards, including my script "Wild Cards", which took first place in Fade In: Magazine's annual competition. It was later retitled “Hit Me,” became my feature directorial debut, and is now distributed worldwide by Curb Entertainment. I also recently sold a martial arts pitch to M.E.B. Entertainment, which is currently slated for production in 2012. For three years and 168 episodes, I was the head writer and supervising producer of "Max and Jason: Still Up," an hour-long TV show which airs every weeknight on Current TV, a cable network founded by Al Gore that’s currently delivered to over 60 million homes worldwide. Last year, I was the Supervising Producer for Spike TV's reality show "Auction Hunters," which was just picked up for a third season and was the Supervising Producer, Director and Writer for the second season of "I'm Alive," an hour-long recreation show that's now airing on Animal Planet. Most recently, through Filmaka, I directed commercials for DirecTV, Discover Card and Hungry-Man. All my latest films and resume are viewable on my website, kinneyfilms.com.
