Biography I am interested in telling stories that endeavor to inspire, provoke thought and expand perceptions. I am the Managing Director of The Groundlings Theatre and School in L.A. and love spending my days with hilarious, inspiring actors. I come to filmmaking through theatre directing and am excited by the new adventures I am having with this medium. In 2006 I directed and edited a feature documentary called Lesbian Pulp-O-Rama Goes to Sweden which screened at numerous festivals worldwide, including NewFest, Frameline, Goteborg International film Festival and IFC. I went on to direct several VCAM's (Viewer Created Ads) for Current TV and won the T-Mobile competition, getting air play for that spot.
My short film, Sondra Stingray: Sapphic Gumshoe is a Noir lesbian detective story which is just hitting the festival circuit now and recently screened at Long Beach Q Film Fest, winning both Best Short and Best Director. Sondra Stingray screened at AGLIFF in Austin, Three Dollar Bill in Seattle and Chicago's Reeling Festival in 2009 and has hit Paris, London, Helsinki and Hanburg film fests in 2010.
I also directed all six episodes of the award-wining web-series REAL GIRL'S GUIDE TO EVERYTHING ELSE, which won the HollyShorts Audience Award and has screened in over twenty film festivals. Strike TV picked up the series for distribution in early 2010. In 2014 PBS Latino purchased the rights to my short film El Doctor.
Most recently my first feature film AS GOOD AS YOU was acquired by First Run Features. The film won Best LGBT Feature at Hollywood Reel Independent after premiering at Portland Film Festival.
