I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela (1964), and lived in Caracas which I consider my hometown. A crazy city with a lot of action in all levels: political, cultural and sports, but sometimes a real chaos , the perfect city for ideas and situations that presents to express in films. No I live in Monterrey, Mexico.
Since my late twenties after graduating from college in Texas (University of Mary Hardin-Baylor) with a Tennis scholarship (Bachelor of Science ), I have been playing and having fun with a video camera. I started doing shorts with family members and all kind of video work, everything that friends and family wanted that had to do with shooting with a camera I will do it just to practice and because I really enjoy doing it.
My real training in movie making was and is watching movies and learning about movies by really going to the movies, to the theater, not the video experience, and knowing the director's name and who wrote the movie and who did The DP, so I can learn form them.
I admire the work of QUENTIN TARANTINO, STEVEN SODERBERGH, DAVID FINCHER AND BRIAN DE PALMA, their movies moved me and made me realize how wonderful the movie experience is, when you can be immerse in the world of other people imagination, specially with the work of TARANTINO, so unique and personal, but at the same so direct and in your face so you are awake to the experience.
In the Present time I spend my time between my Tennis academy , My Video Company, and my personal film projects which includes, of course, doing the FILMAKA shorts every Month and also working with some friends and fellow Filmakas in Boston (Directors Daniel Cayarga and Santiago TAPIA) during the summer holidays.
