My mom said ‘You want be a Filmmaker, You must be joking?’ because she wanted me to become a doctor. I kept my ambition alive throughout these years and have tried my best to be in the world of films and documentaries. I am mostly interested in directing and editing films even though I act in some of my scripts. I have won short film competitions and a Kurdish film which was also selected at the Exodus Short Film Festival 2008 in the UK. I am a very competitive and ambitious person in my work which reflects on the films I have made. I have written scripts for theatre in Malaysia and films mostly in the comedy genre which received good for my acting and scriptwriting in reviews in major newspapers there.
By working mostly in the drama genre I feel that making films is a moral responsibility. My films and documentaries have focussed on social issues such as Schizophrenia, Honour killings and also cultural diversity issues. As a media personality I feel we should divert the attention of people towards important issues which are sometimes ignored in the society. I personally feel ‘passion’ is one key element in making films or documentaries. If someone has the passion and the ambition for his work, he can sure break through any barriers in this industry. I work on different editing programs such as Sony Vegas 7.0, Final Cut Pro, Magix and DVD Studio Pro.
I have lived in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and United Kingdom which also gives me the knowledge of cultural understanding. The world is getting smaller and I feel cultural knowledge is an important skill needed in the world of filmmaking.
